In-Person Book Repair Basics Training Available in Dallas, April 24

Amigos is pleased to offer a hands-on introduction and overview to help library staff maintain their circulating hardcover book collection. Preservation expert Rebecca Elder will guide attendees through repair techniques for paper (surface cleaning, mending, tipping in pages) and books (hinge tightening and corner repair) and provide guidance for setting up a repair workspace, understanding book repair terminology, and engaging a conservator.

If you missed the February 12, 2025, online conference, "The People-Powered Library Online Conference", there's still a chance to view the sessions by registering for the recording. Beginning with the opening keynote "Libraries Work Because We Do: Nurturing Workplace Culture and Work-Life Balance in Libraries" presented by Lessa Kananiʻopua Pelayo-Lozada, Acting Director for the Glendale Public Library in Southern California and the 2022-23 President of the American Library Association, the conference also included several concurrent sessions on a variety of topics that explored the ways libraries nurture and grow their staff and teams.

Amigos Library Services Invites Nominations for Board of Directors

The Amigos Nominating Committee is accepting nominations from individuals interested in serving on the Amigos Board of Directors. The 2025 election ballot, to be sent to members in April, will include candidates for four positions on the board – three board of directors positions for representatives from member institutions and one board of directors position for an independent representative.
