The Amigos Board of Directors is pleased to announce the winners of its 2016 Amigos Fellowship and Opportunity Award

The Award recipients were announced at the annual Amigos Member Meeting May 11th. They are:

  • University of Missouri – Kansas City, Jen Salvo-Eaton, “Dynamic Engagement: Digital and Physical Promotion of a Writing Resources Micro-Collection”. This project will create a micro-collection to highlight print and electronic writing resources available in the library.
  • Arkansas State University, Natasha R. Margulis, “Crowdsourcing it Old School Style: The Controlled Vocabulary Initiative at Arkansas State University”. This project proposed using in-person crowdsourcing to develop a controlled vocabulary/thesaurus to use in descriptive metadata for digitized news footage.

The Amigos Fellowship and Opportunity Award has granted up to $10,000 to library and information professionals in Amigos member libraries to fund development projects. A key aspect of the program is sharing the experiences of members with other members. Visit the Amigos Fellowship and Opportunity Award Program website for previous winners and their project reports.

At their most recent meeting, the Amigos Board of Directors decided to suspend the Fellowship and Opportunity Award for FY2017. During this time, we will look at the purpose of the award and the best way to foster resource sharing, library innovation, research and development.
