The Meramec Valley Branch opened in May 2019. The Meramec Valley Branch went from being the smallest in the Library District to now being a full-service branch encompassing 21,000 square feet. It now features an engaging and interactive Discovery Zone for kids, an outdoor reading deck, private study rooms, a community meeting room and other amenities.
Jefferson College is among the few public institutions in Jefferson County that have an impact on every individual, regardless of age or residence. Since its creation by voters in 1963, Jefferson County residents have continually regarded the College as the preferred source for higher education. In addition to its core mission of preparing students for transfer and career education opportunities, the College plays an integral part in the community by leading and hosting numerous programs and services that reach far beyond the walls of its classrooms and locations.
St. Louis Public Library (SLPL) was established in 1865 as the Public School Library Society of St. Louis. In the beginning, it was a subscription Library open only to paying members. Then it opened to the public for reference and reading on the premises in 1874. With a mission to "provide learning resources and information services that support and improve individual, family and community life", SLPL now has 17 locations across the city, over four million books and items, 2.3 million visitors annually and 83,000 Library cardholders.
