Adults in the YA Section: Cross-sectional Readers Advisory

Young adult and teen fiction has become increasingly popular among readers of all ages. At the same time, teens do not want to be pigeon-holed into one section of the library.

In this course, we will examine strategies to effectively provide readers advisory regardless of age. We will formulate reference and display strategies to improve patrons' access to the books that they want to read. Finally, we wil discuss possible limitations in cross-sectional readers advisory.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify effective readers advisory strategies
  • Develop cross-sectional and cross-generational display ideas
  • List possible limitations to cross-sectional readers advisory
