According to the US Department of Labor, in 2024 over 6 million individuals with disabilities were employed in the U.S., up from 4.7 million in 2020. The most significant increases in employment numbers for individuals with disabilities were in professional sectors like technology, education, community services, and healthcare.
Libraries, like other workplaces, are integrating practices that support all staff, including individuals with diverse cognitive, sensory, and workplace needs. This Community Conversation explores practical ways to foster more inclusive workplaces, by identifying barriers, adapting workflows, and fostering emotional safety. Topics discussed will include flexible supervision, communication norms, collaboration with Human Resources and accessibility partners, and small policy or space adjustments that can make an outsized impact. Leaders will leave with real examples and immediately usable ideas to strengthen team well-being and performance.
This session will not be recorded. To support open conversation and ensure participant privacy, the course is offered live only. Attendees are encouraged to join the session at the scheduled time to fully benefit from the discussion and activities.
