Oxford University Press will move the American National Biography and Oxford Dictionary of National Biography to the Oxford Academic platform on October 22, 2026. The resources will remain available on both their current platforms and Oxford Academic through November 5, 2026. After that date, redirects will be put in place.
Libraries that subscribe to either resource should review Oxford University Press’s transition guidance and complete the required actions before, during, and after the move. Preparing in advance can help libraries maintain uninterrupted access, update affected systems and records, and provide a smoother transition for users.
Oxford University Press has created separate action checklists for each resource:
- Complete the American National Biography actions
- Complete the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography actions
Library staff responsible for electronic resources, cataloging, discovery, authentication, or access management may want to review the checklists together to identify any necessary updates.
The move is part of a larger Oxford University Press initiative to bring most of its academic research content to Oxford Academic by the end of 2027, creating a more consistent research experience across its publications.
