Job Summary
Performs moderately complex (journey-level) library work for the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) program. Provides customer and technical assistance to Texas public library staff participating in the statewide ILL and courier services programs. Provides technical support to ILL Coordinator in implementing new ILL system and migrating libraries to the new system. Monitors activity in statewide ILL system accounts and broader nationwide ILL system account. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Tasks
- Provides routine to more complex support interlibrary loan and courier consulting and technical assistance to Texas public library staff.
- Supports statewide ILL program with developing and presenting training, and developing documentation related to the ILL program.
- Tracks and updates library information in the customer relationship management system (CRM).
- Performs data collection, analysis, and generates reports.
- Assists with annual non-competitive grant program.
- Performs other job duties as assigned.
- Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.
- Complies with all applicable agency policies and procedures, including safety and standards of conduct.
Minimum Qualifications
- Masters degree in library and information studies or related field from an accredited program.
- One year experience working with an integrated library system (ILS) or library management system (LMS).
- One year work experience with processing interlibrary loans.
- Two years work experience entering data into and/or retrieving data from spreadsheets, databases, software programs, or cloud-based applications.
- Two years work experience providing customer service to the public in person, by phone, or by email.
- Experience developing and presenting training in person and virtually.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing customers with trouble-shooting and technical support for online systems and software.
- Experience assembling data for analysis and reporting.
- Experience with cataloging library or similar materials.
- Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to review, edit, and develop documents, spreadsheets, and reports.
- Ability to apply and explain project procedures, rules, and regulations to the public clearly and effectively.
Environmental/Physical Conditions
Normal office work environment and may have exposure to dust and environmental allergens consistent with normal business activities and human contact. Mostly sedentary in nature but may involve moving; standing; pulling and pushing kneeling, stooping and bending; performing tasks requiring fine motor skill and coordination to safely move items weighing up to 20 pounds. Must be able to work extended periods at a computer. May require working extended hours and some evenings and weekends as needed. Normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall and apply certain practices and policies and interpret data. Travel (5%), some overnight, will be required to conduct training, speak publicly and attend meetings.
