Amigos is pleased to share an exciting professional development opportunity from vendor partner Bloomsbury. On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm central, Bloomsbury will host a free webinar, Global Plays in Translation, through its acclaimed Drama Online digital library.

This special event, led by Dom O'Hanlon, Publisher at Methuen Drama, will feature an engaging panel that includes playwright Abel González Melo, translator and dramaturg William Gregory, and translator and academic Dr. Jozefina Komporaly. Together, they will explore the translation and curation of global plays, as well as ways in which these plays can be incorporated into drama teaching.

The webinar will spotlight Global Plays Collection 1, a rich addition to the Drama Online portfolio that features 100 plays in translation from Bloomsbury's pre-eminent theatre imprint, Methuen Drama.

The collection offers work by dramatists from 25 countries, including India, Nigeria, Argentina, Japan, Ethiopia, Algeria, and Ukraine. With many titles appearing in English for the first time, the Global Plays Collection 1 provides libraries and educators with powerful tools to introduce students and readers to new voices and themes from across the world.

For academic and public libraries supporting theater studies, world literature, or global cultural literacy, this session offers a chance to gain insight into a uniquely diverse resource. Whether building inclusive collections or supporting classroom instruction, attendees will leave with fresh ideas for integrating international works into their library’s offerings.
