Know & Go: Creating Low-Tech Everyday Makerspaces on a Limited Budget
Makerspaces are not all about high-tech digital creations. Low-tech, high-impact makerspaces and maker programming can be simple arts and crafts programs, sewing and cooking classes, robotics, Legos, Tinker toys, graphic design and more. Discover how to create a dedicated “Makerspace” or “Pop-Up” makerspaces that are re-purposed DIY spaces used by makers to create, invent and learn in the library.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the kinds of tools and work areas used to create a makerspace in your library
- Describe the kinds of low-tech programming ideas for limited budgets
- Discuss funding sources and how makerspaces can help library users design and produce works of art or information and share the results with their community
