We Are Family: Barnes & Noble E-readers, Tablets and Apps

"We Are Family" series:
Based on customer feedback, we have created this series of e-book/e-reader courses. We designed it so you can learn to use specific devices and then delve into other organizational issues like collection development, marketing, and policy development. We have a suggested order (note the Related Courses section below), but you may take any course at any time.

Learning Objectives

• Identify current Barnes & Noble devices/apps compatible with e-book content
• Troubleshoot compatibility of e-collections with Barnes & Noble devices/apps
• Identify available apps for e-reading
• Demonstrate how to download an e-book from Barnes and Noble
• Demonstrate how to download an e-book from a free e-book site
• Demonstrate how to download an e-book from an OverDrive collection

Target Audience
Any staff in libraries responsible for implementing or supporting e-reader services.

Prerequisites
None; bring a Barnes & Noble e-reader or tablet if you have it.
Preferred: Completion of "Overview of Hardware and E-collections for E-readers in Libraries" course

Homework Expectations and Completion Requirements
This is an interactive course and participants will be required to attend all sessions and complete homework assignments in order to earn Continuing Education credit.

It is designed for individual participation; each individual must register.
