Free E-books – Where They Are and How to Download Them
In this hands-on course, we will introduce you to free e-book sites and help you download e-books to your reader or app.
Based on customer feedback, we have created this series of e-book/e-reader courses. We designed it so you can learn to use specific devices and then delve into other organizational issues like collection development, marketing, and policy development. We have a suggested order (note the Related Courses section below), but you may take any course at any time.
Learning Objectives
- Identify 3 free e-book sites that may be of interest to you or your patrons
- Download and read an e-book from 2 free e-book sites
Target Audience
Any staff in libraries responsible for implementing or supporting e-reader services
Prerequisites
One of the following is required:
- Know how to download an e-book to your device
- We Are Family: Barnes & Noble E-readers, Tablets and Apps (Live Online)
- We Are Family: Amazon Kindle E-readers, Tablets and Apps (Live Online)
- We Are Family: Apple (iOS) E-reading Devices and Apps (Live Online)
Homework Expectations and Completion Requirements
This is an interactive course and participants will be required to attend all sessions and complete homework assignments in order to earn Continuing Education credit.
It is designed for individual participation; each individual must register.
