E-book Collection Development for Public & Academic Libraries

This course introduces you to e-book collections available for your institution. You will learn about creating an e-book collection development policy; identify e-collections for public and academic libraries; and put in place an assessment program that measures both the successes and shortfalls of your program. The course is also designed to provide you with opportunities to interact with and learn from colleagues from a variety of libraries.

Learning Objectives

  • Write collection development policies concerning e-readers/e-content
  • Identify e-collections for public libraries
  • Identify e-collections for academic libraries
  • Discuss assessment /weeding of your e-collection

Target Audience
Any staff in libraries responsible for implementing or supporting e-reader services

Prerequisites
Familiarity with downloading an e-book to a device

Homework Expectations and Completion Requirements
This is an interactive course and participants will be required to attend all sessions and complete homework assignments in order to earn Continuing Education credit.

It is designed for individual participation; each individual must register.
