
Cataloging & Testing Services Coordinator
Missouri Valley College seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented professional to join our team as the Cataloging & Testing Services Coordinator.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all cataloging functions, managing the Testing Center in conjunction with the Academic Resource Coordinator, and providing essential support for faculty and students. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining the integrity of the college’s library resources, enhancing student engagement, and supporting the institution’s retention efforts. This is a 10-month position, working August through May, with June and July off.
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional library and academic support environment but may require occasional flexibility in scheduling.
Responsibilities
Cataloging and Collection Development
- Manages all catalog functions, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records in FOLIO.
- Assists with collection development for education collections, including acquisitions, deletions, and reorganization of materials.
- Updates and edits the catalog collection, including managing the graphic novel collection and other special collections.
- Continually expands knowledge of the cataloging process through professional development, including participation in annual consortium training and other library resource initiatives.
Testing Center Management
- Oversees the daily operations of the Testing Center, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for students and faculty.
- Develops and maintains policies and procedures for the Testing Center, including Testing Center Policy, Faculty Steps for Submitting a Test, and the Academic Dishonesty Report document.
Faculty and Student Support
- Assists in coordinating the partnership between Murrell Library & Academic Support Center and the School of Nursing & Health Sciences through the Virtual Reality (VR) program.
- Provides essential support for Rural Student STEAM Days, including facilitating VR experiences for students.
- Enhances student retention by ensuring online students have access to necessary library resources and support services.
- Plays a key role in communicating available resources to faculty and students, ensuring alignment with the college’s strategic goals for retention and student success.
Skills
- Strong understanding of cataloging processes, particularly within FOLIO.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Experience in financial management, including purchase order processing and reconciliation.
- Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Commitment to student engagement and retention through innovative library and academic support services.
- Experience with testing center management and academic integrity policies preferred.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, Education, or a related field.
- Experience in cataloging, library resource management, or academic support services.
- Familiarity with Virtual Reality (VR) educational programs is a plus.
