Hyku is a digital repository that provides a robust and flexible platform for institutions to manage and provide access to digital content. Providing easy-to-configure, feature-rich solutions, Hyku reduces barriers to effective asset management and is supported by a vibrant and ever-growing open-source community.
Hyku is useful to institutions of any size in managing collections of digital assets, particularly libraries, archives, museums, and historical societies, with collections of cultural heritage materials, particularly if technical resources and infrastructure are limited. Hyku strives to provide all institutions with access to the benefits of a digital repository without needing to hire and retain developers.

Highlights
- User Interface Customizations - Hyku supports custom logos, banners, font and color options, and CSS (Cascading Style Sheet).
- Accessibility - Hyku conforms to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0, Level AA. For those interested, a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) is available.
- Open - The Hyku software is open-source and licensed under Apache 2.0. Development is open, with multiple organizations contributing to the codebase. The community is focused on open collaboration, making it easy to become involved at many levels.

Pricing
Amigos has invested in Hyku as an affordable repository solution for libraries and cultural heritage institutions of all types and sizes. Amigos’ pricing for Hyku reflects a commitment to working in partnership with participating institutions.
Introductory pricing is based on repositories of no more than 400GB or 4,000 objects and is applicable to institutions that become hosting partners before July 1, 2026:
- For Amigos member institutions, Hyku hosting service is $1,500 per year
- For all other institutions, Hyku hosting service is $3,000 per year
To help ensure sustainability and affordability, Amigos will hold year-to-year price increases to no more than 8% for each of the first four years for institutions that take advantage of introductory pricing and whose repositories do not exceed 400GB or 4,000 objects. Amigos will work directly with institutions whose repositories exceed 400GB or 4,000 objects during their introductory periods.
