Job Description:
The Library Specialist will provide support for the Librarians in the Eugene D. McMahon Library. The individual in this position will be responsible for a variety of non-librarian duties, including but not limited to the following:

Job Duties:

  • Assisting patrons with services appropriate to the level of responsibility,
  • Managing and/or contributing to digital outreach efforts,
  • Using Library and University software systems to perform a variety of Library tasks,
  • Cleaning and maintenance of existing library equipment; troubleshooting, conducting regular inventories, and keeping up to date on new technology to improve the collection,
  • Assisting with circulation duties including but not limited to supervising the circulation desk as needed and administering the functions of the Digital Media Lab,
  • Organizing or participating in the organization of Library events and activities,
  • Supervising student workers as needed,
  • Assisting with print collection inventory, organization, and curation,
  • Collecting and compiling statistical data,
  • Tracking, troubleshooting, and maintaining access for electronic resources,
  • Serving as back-up supervisor of the Tutoring Center, and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision: The Library Specialist will report to the Library Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrated successful use of software programs
  • Demonstrated high-quality communication skills
  • Ability to work with others towards fulfillment of the library’s mission and goals
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality customer service

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Library experience
  • Supervisory experience

Salary Range: $28,500

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift objects under 15 pounds including using the upper body to raise objects from a lower position to a higher position; ability to reach including extending the arm and hand; ability to stand for short or extended periods of time; ability to engage in repetitive motions including finger dexterity; ability to speak, hear and see. Ability to crouch, climb and walk stairs.
