The basics of this position:
Provides leadership and supervision for library services on the campus. Coordinates with faculty and staff to provide library services; collaborates with the library management team to develop and implement library policies, procedures, and programs; develops and administers operating and capital budgets; oversees building security and facilities management.
What you'll do:
- Manages and administers library and information access services provided to faculty, staff, and students.
- Ensures equal access to materials and services.
- Collaborates with the library management team and instruction librarians to evaluate and select print, non-print, and electronic materials for the library collection.
- Serves as the library point of contact for program accreditations.
- Provides reference and circulation assistance to students, faculty, staff, and community users.
- In coordination with the library management team, develops and administers library policies and procedures.
- Oversees facility maintenance and improvement projects in the library; develops capital proposals, monitors and coordinates activities with facilities operations to encourage timely completion of projects.
- Develops, recommends, implements, and manages budgets for campus library services.
- Leads assessment activities to measure effectiveness of the Library in meeting the needs of its users.
- Establishes, maintains, and promotes effective relationships with representatives from local and state colleges and universities concerning library service; represents the college on association and consortia committees.
- Recruits and hires direct reports; manages staff to ensure optimum performance and support of the college objectives with emphasis on employee training and development; effectively utilizes the College performance evaluation system.
- Serves on college committees and task forces.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education, experience, and other requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Five (5) years of full-time library experience, including three (3) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s of Library Science degree or a master’s degree accredited by the American Library Association (ALA), preferred.
