Library Assistant -- Missouri Valley College -- Marshall, MO

Job Summary

Under general direction of the Assistant Dean of Library & Academic Support Services and library support staff, provides circulation and reference assistance for library clients, conducts tours and orientation sessions as needed, creates displays and bulletin boards, participates in collection maintenance, and assists with processing new library materials.

Part-Time (20-25 hours/week)

Hours: Variable hours based on needs of the library, mostly evenings. Schedule to be

determined based on the chosen candidate’s availability.

Job Responsibilities and Minimum Qualifications:

  • A combination of post-secondary education and relevant work experience equal to at least 2 years.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills and ability to interact productively with students, faculty, staff, and other constituents.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Computer literacy with standard software.
  • Actively support the mission, vision, values, and goals of the institution

Duties will vary based on specific assignments. Assignments may change at any time during employment based on needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of library operations, collections, and services.
  • A background in an education-related field.
  • Experience using Canva
