Understanding and Assisting Library Patrons on the Autism Spectrum

Present across racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups across the lifespan, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is estimated to affect 1 in 59 children in the U.S. Librarians are therefore likely to encounter patrons who are "on the spectrum" and require at least some modifications in their library use due to communication, sensory integration, and other challenges.

Member Spotlight - Caruthersville Public Library

Caruthersville Public Library is located in Caruthersville, MO in the "boot heel" (the part that is shaped like the heel of a boot) at the bottom of Missouri. Their mission is"The lifelong learning center of Pemiscot County," primarily through its efforts in improving literacy, consumer health information, and workforce investment and job training. They serve a population of nearly 6000 residents in what has been the poorest county in the state.

Administrative Changes at Amigos: Tracy Byerly Accepts Appointment as Interim CEO

Following a meeting between representatives from the Amigos Board of Directors and Alan Kornblau, it was announced that Alan resigned from his position as President and CEO of Amigos Library Services effective October 25, 2019.
