Cass County Public Library is a vibrant and community-focused library dedicated to providing access to knowledge and resources for all members of our diverse community. Our bookmobile service plays a crucial role in reaching individuals who may not have easy access to our physical library branches.

Join our team as a Library Bookmobile Driver and make a difference by bringing the joy of reading and learning directly to neighborhoods, schools, and community events. As a bookmobile driver, you will be responsible for operating our mobile library vehicle, maintaining a schedule of stops, assisting patrons with borrowing materials, and promoting literacy and library services.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist patrons in selecting and checking out library materials
  • Provide information about library programs, services, and resources
  • Maintain patron records, registering new patrons, shelving items, locating items for patrons, and maintaining patron confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain accurate records of bookmobile visits, circulation, and patron interactions.

This position requires working with patrons in a positive, competent, and courteous manner.

  • Maintaining, and assisting visitors on computers and other devices, and answering general reference questions.
  • Safely operate the library bookmobile to designated locations.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on the bookmobile and report any issues

Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. CDL is not required as this is a Class A motor vehicle.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of library resources and services (preferred).
  • Flexibility in scheduling, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry library materials.
