Viewpoint From the Chair - July 2015

As my time as Chair of the Amigos Board of Directors draws to a close, there are a number of people I would like to thank for making this a special year for me.

First, I would like to thank my fellow Directors for the faith they showed in me by choosing me to serve the final year of my Board term as Chair of the Amigos Board. It has been my pleasure to work alongside these talented individuals, and I thank each of them for the professional manner they have displayed in the handling of their Board responsibilities. All Amigos members have benefitted from their service and dedication. On a personal level, I will forever cherish the relationships I have developed over the course of my Board service with these caring and hard-working folks whom I have come to respect and admire.

This has been a year of hopeful anticipation as we count down the days to the long-awaited debut of the Amigos eShelf℠ Service e-book platform early this fall. Christine Peterson and her team have worked long and hard to make this project a reality, and I know they are as eager as anyone to see their efforts about to come to fruition.

Like so many have done before me, I want to thank Bonnie Juergens and the dedicated professionals that comprise the Amigos staff for once again giving their all in service to Amigos members. Their continued dedication to the Amigos organization and its members makes our libraries so much better in countless ways.

I offer my sincere best wishes to Steve Potter, who succeeds me as Board Chair for the coming year. I have gotten to know Steve during our time together on the Board, and know he will be an involved and engaged leader. He is truly the right person at the right time to oversee the rollout of the new e-book platform as well as the other programs and services being explored.

It has been both a pleasure and a privilege for me to be a member of the Amigos Board and to serve this past year as its Chair. Thank you all for allowing me the honor of serving you.
