Upcoming Know & Go sessions: "Providing Services to People with Disabilities" and "How to Salvage Wet Books"

Amigos will offer two informative Know & Go sessions in the coming weeks: "Providing Services to People with Disabilities," and "How to Salvage Wet Books."

"Providing Services to People with Disabilities" is scheduled for October 20 from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. CDT. Attend this informative session presented by Continuing Education Librarian Arta Kabashi to learn about all aspects of conceptualizing and delivering services to people with disabilities. Topics covered include implementing Universal Design spaces in your library, defining types of research assistance, identifying assistive technologies, building programs which target people with disabilities, and identifying ADA compliant databases. Librarians from all types of libraries are encouraged to attend. Register on the Amigos website.

"How to Salvage Wet Books" is scheduled for October 27 from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. CDT. Join Collections Care Specialist Carmen Cowick for this hour-long session to learn how to salvage wet books. Wet books happen, from spills, leaks, seeps or flooding, to one book or an entire shelf. This presentation introduces the main components involved in the recovery of wet books and covers the best practices for salvaging various types of books. Emphasis will be on in-house techniques at minimal cost. Register on the Amigos website.
