Viewpoint from the Chair - June 2014

As I conclude my term as Chair of the Amigos Board of Directors, it seems appropriate to express my thanks to all who have made this year so memorable for me.

I want to thank my fellow Directors for the faith and confidence they showed in me by selecting me to lead this premiere organization the past year. On behalf of Amigos and its members, I wish to thank outgoing Directors Shirley Dickerson and Bill Hair for their years of devoted service. It has been my pleasure to work alongside you both for the good of Amigos and its members, all of whom have benefitted from your stewardship and guidance. As we bid farewell to Shirley and Bill and wish them well, we welcome new Directors Robin Fradenburgh and Lisa Wells, two excellent new choices by Amigos Members to serve on the Board.

Kudos go to Amigos President and CEO Bonnie Juergens and the entire Amigos team for another year of hard work and diligent efforts that continue to make Amigos the nation’s leading library service organization. Thank you all for your service to Amigos Members. Congratulations to you all for hosting yet another outstanding Amigos Member Conference and its lineup of timely, thought-provoking programs. And of course we all continue to love those goodie boxes!

It has certainly been gratifying these past months to witness the progress in the development of our Amigos eShelf℠ e-book distribution platform. We await the rollout of this groundbreaking platform later this year with eagerness and anticipation. Thank you to all who have had a role in making it happen.

Congratulations to Carla Stoffle, my successor as Board Chair. It has been a true privilege to serve with Carla on the Amigos Board. Those who know Carla recognize her to be an ardent supporter and true champion of Amigos. I look forward to my continued service on the Board with Carla in what I’m confident will be another year of growth and accomplishment for Amigos under her leadership.

Thank you for allowing me to serve as your Chair.
