Provides professional library services in a branch library or central library department. May oversee the daily activities of a central library department or branch library to ensure effective use of the facilities. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.

Under the supervision of the Librarian IV Coordinator of Adult Collection Development, responsible for the procurement and management of electronic information resources. Provides expert support for collection development and assessment, primarily of electronic materials such as e-books, online journals, databases, and other e-resources. Coordinates the work of the database committee; sets agenda, leads meetings, reports results and makes recommendations. Responsible for analysis of collection use data, analysis of approval plans and subscription offers from library consortia and vendors, and investigation of emerging and non-standard material types (e.g. streaming media, proprietary data sets). Prepares appropriate reports. Attends monthly collection development meetings. Attends conferences, training and workshops as appropriate. Assists Collection Development Coordinator with vendor visits and electronic resources budgets. Provides guidance and support to staff in the use and evaluation of databases and electronic resources. Recommends changes in materials selection policies and procedures as they relate to electronic resources. Directs assigned staff and oversees activities of Adult Collection Development in the absence of the Coordinator. Other duties as assigned. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Accredited school. Two years job related experience; post MLS experience preferred. Computer skills; Good verbal and written communication, supervisory and organizational skills; Ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner. Knowledge of current library practices and technologies in the department. Requires evening and weekend work as assigned. Valid Texas Driver’s License.

SALARY RANGE: Professional/Management Grade 10, $1,792.80 - $1,922.40 biweekly based on qualifications
