JOB TITLE: ACADEMIC LIAISON – ADULT SERVICES
Initiates, plans and provides specialized higher education library services to students enrolled in courses and programs offered by the University of Houston-Sugar Land, University of Houston-Victoria and Wharton County Junior College. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Initiates, plans and provides advanced library services and plans lessons for students enrolled in courses and programs offered by University of Houston-Sugar Land, University of Houston-Victoria and Wharton County Junior College. Responsible for becoming familiar with campus web pages, databases and other information provided by each institution and training all University Branch Adult Services staff to able to assist any student or faculty member. Supervises, trains, schedules and evaluates the performance of the Assistant Academic Liaison. Pre-approves the higher education collections to be selected, purchased, owned, maintained and insured by the County. Provides guidance and support to the County Library status in the use of policies, procedures, websites, catalogs and databases of each partnership institution. Maintains faculty reserved course materials. Creates and evaluates procedures and policies for instruction, reserves and requests to ensure student and faculty needs are met. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school. Three years job related experience, with a minimum of two years post-MLS. Computer skills, strong verbal and written communication, math and/or accounting, and organizational skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials.
SALARY RANGE: Professional/Management Grade 11, $1,897.60 - $2,232.80 biweekly based on qualifications
