The Librarian assists in the development and implementation of all policies and procedures related to the Library's Information Literacy program and participates in the provision of public services to library customers. The Librarian provides general and course-specific instruction, teaches courses both online and in-person, implements instructional design using a variety of technologies, tools and resources, and assists with all instruction initiatives. The Librarian participates with the Research Services librarian team in outreach activities, collection development, and professional assistance via a variety of methods. The position requires some evening and weekend work in an academic library using a wide range of traditional and electronic resources. The Librarian also serves as a liaison subject specialist to academic departments; participates in campus outreach; serves on committees of the Library and the University of Texas Dallas as needed; and fulfills other duties as assigned.

Required: MLS or equivalent from an ALA accredited program; at least one year of experience in an academic library; a working knowledge of relevant information technology including the use of standard desktop software; an understanding of electronic and print information resources and technologies; excellent written and oral communication skills; demonstrated strong commitment to library-customer focused services; ability to work independently and as a member of a team in a rapidly changing, demanding, and culturally diverse environment.

Preferred Experience
A demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology trends; an understanding of standards and issues in academic libraries; experience in emerging technologies including NetOp, Camtasia, Microsoft Publisher, Dreamweaver, and Photoshop. Additionally, the ability to build partnerships with faculty and staff across the University, to provide service to the campus community, and to engage in professional development.

MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution
