Librarian - Part-time -- Irving Public Library -- Irving, TX
Irving Public Library is seeking an innovative, creative and engaging customer service oriented professional librarian to assist with Teens/Young Adult programming. Duties include development of a full range of library services, programs and activities for Teens/Young Adult; and overseeing the work of assigned staff. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, organized, and enjoy working with Teens/Young Adult; and capable of developing and conducting original, vibrant programming for Teens/Young Adult that encourages reading, creative thinking, and promotes the use of the library and its materials. The person hired will work in all areas of the library including regularly staffing the information and circulation desks. Irving Public Library's mission is to provide access to information for lifelong learning and promote the enjoyment of reading. Education and Experience:
Possession of a Master of Library Science degree from an American Library Association accredited program and one year professional library or related experience required. Applicants also should have strong knowledge and appreciation of Young Adult literature.
Bilingual (English / Spanish) skills are beneficial. Schedule includes weekend and evening hours. Applicants will need to have a strong desire and experience working with Teens/Young Adult.
Pay: $23.71 - $33.43 per hour (progressive over 11 steps)
Schedule: Monday through Friday, weekends/nights assigned - 20 hours per week
