JOB TITLE: LIBRARIAN III – PROGRAMMING & EVENT MANAGER

Responsible for managing system-wide programming, exhibits and events. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops, plans, coordinates and implements all system-wide programs and events, including acquiring speakers, exhibits, receptions and similar programming. Supervises clerk and provides guidance, writes evaluations and make changes to services as necessary. Develops contacts and relationships with individuals, organizations, businesses and vendors in the Fort Bend community as partners with the library in the production of programs and events. Assists with fundraising efforts for library programming. Searches for, writes and implements grants to support programming. Collects data, keeps statistics and prepare reports, evaluates programs and outcomes. As Chair of the programming committee, reviews proposals submitted by outside presenters to evaluate whether or not their programs align with our programming guidelines and the Library’s Mission Statement. Assists with the development of Library Speaker’s Bureau. Searches for, writes and implements grants to support programming. Collects data, keeps statistics and prepares reports, evaluates programs and outcomes. Communicates programming information and activities to Public Information Office and web staff in a timely manner. Produces internal communications necessary for execution of events, including program reports. Other duties as assigned. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
Master’s Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited school required. Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations or related courses of study preferred. Three years experience job related experience with one year of management experience preferred. Good computer skills and good verbal and written communication, supervisory and organizational skills. Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials. Ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner. Valid Driver’s License. Availability to work evening and weekend hours in the library and the community. Ability to work under stress.
SALARY RANGE: Professional/Management Grade 12, $2,176.00 - $2,560.00 biweekly based on qualifications
