  • Metadata Basics
    July 28, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. CDT
    This course defines metadata; outlines the purposes and functions of metadata; lists the components of a metadata infrastructure and keys to successfully launching a new metadata standard; demonstrates how well formed XML provides a framework for expressing metadata in an online environment.
  • Metadata Standards & Types
    July 30, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. CDT
    We'll discuss XML DTDs and schemas and list the types and examples of metadata currently in use today.
  • Metadata Customization, Exchange Transformation and Migration
    August 4, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. CDT
    You'll learn metadata quality factors, application profiles, the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting, metadata crosswalks and stylesheets.
  • Metadata Relationships
    August 6, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. CDT
    We'll focus on the role of expressing relationships in metadata to enhance resource discovery.
