Revisiting the Digital Millennium Copyright Act

In 1998, Congress passed the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), which was controversial in some professions, including ours. We have now lived with it for almost twenty years. It is time to revisit it to see how it has changed librarianship and what is currently being discussed.

  • list the major points of the DMCA
  • Discuss the current status of this legislation
