Basic Cataloging
Are you interested in learning more about cataloging but unsure about where to start? This session will cover the basics of cataloging tools and techniques, including descriptive cataloging (RDA), subject cataloging (classification and subject headings), and Machine Readable Cataloging (MARC). You will leave this session feeling more informed about how to get your library's materials cataloged and in the hands of your patrons.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the underlying principles of cataloging and classification and how they affect patrons' ability to find library resources
- Identify cataloging standards and rules, including RDA and MARC21.
- Identify useful cataloging resources
