Know & Go: STEAM clubs

The increasing drive for STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) education has worked its way into libraries. One effective way that preschool, school aged and college students, and adults alike are engaging in STEAM education is through clubs hosted at the library. Whether focusing on coding, mathematics, or engineering, these clubs are revitalizing STEAM in libraries.
 

In this course we will define STEAM and explain why these subjects are recommended. We will list sample clubs for all ages and will discuss how to host STEAM clubs at your library.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify at least two types of STEAM clubs
  • Describe the benefits of hosting a STEAM club in your library
  • Identify one possible resource or programming idea that you could utilize at your library
