Developing Community Support and Building Creative Partnerships

Public libraries are in a prime position to reach different groups throughout the community and develop mutually beneficial partnerships to promote services and resources throughout their service areas. This course will explore how to identify and engage these groups, how to enlist and empower staff to develop relationships with the community, and how to strategically support community partnerships.
 

Learning Objectives:

  • List and define key areas to reach in the library community
  • Identify potential community partners to build and promote library services
  • Prioritize the library’s short-term goals, long-term goals and purchasing to support community partnership efforts
  • Propose tactics and strategies to help foster community partnership and support
  • Measure the effectiveness of ongoing community partnerships

Target Audience:
Librarians and managers in public libraries who are interested in developing community support and partnerships.

  • Students will participate in class discussion and complete individual assignment.
  • It is designed for individual participation; each individual must register.
