Know & Go: Cons in the Library - Attracting Teens and New Adults with Comic Conventions

Day long convention programming can be a challenging and effective way to provide an immersive experience for your patrons and to reach out to fan communities who may not frequent your library.
 

In this Know & Go, we will examine examples of fan and comic conventions in the public and academic library. We will compile a list of individual program examples that can be built into a larger all day con and will discuss challenges and solutions for the format.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify comic, fan and all day convention programming examples
  • Determine solutions for challenges inherent in an all-day format
  • Explain what makes a con an effective program for teens and new adults
