Metadata Principles and Practices: Micro-Credentialing & Capstone Project

Do you catalog? Do you plan digital projects? Do you wish to better understand the role of metadata and how it works? In this 4-class certificate program, you will learn the purposes and functions of metadata, understand how XML is used to express a variety of metadata standards, explore various metadata standards currently in use, learn about customization and interoperability of metadata, and explore the importance of relationships in metadata.

Target Audience:
Catalogers, archivists digital project managers or anyone needing an overview of metadata.

Prerequisites:
To register for this capstone project you must have completed the following courses:

Homework Expectations and Completion Requirements:

  • Each class requires a written assignment. To earn the Metadata Principles and Practices Micro-Credentials, you must also complete this capstone project.
  • It is designed for individual participation; each individual must register.
