Know & Go: Library Improvements: How to Ensure Your Bond Goes the Distance
These issues would be required by law to be fixed and would therefore come before any desired improvements like updating furniture, fixture, or space reorientation. Often the bond raised funds are not enough to cover planned improvements, plus unforeseen necessary repairs, such as roof repairs, HVAC system issues and structural support problems. A Facility Conditions Assessment (FCA) and a master plan can help ensure the proper funds are raised to make both planned improvements and issues that arise during the process.
Learning Objectives:
- Differentiate between facility conditions assessment and master plan
- Begin to utilize facility conditions assessment and establish a master plan for your library
- Determine the true scope of improvements and recommend bond funds needed
- Access to a white paper covering what an FCA and master plan are, the differences between the two and what they help libraries accomplish
