Healthy Habits: Wellness Initiatives in Your Library

At the center of the community, libraries are in a prime position to provide patrons with access to current and reliable health information. From lunch at the library to providing information about health insurance to offering fitness classes, there are many ways for libraries to engage with their communities and promote wellness. This course will explore the role libraries play in community wellness, the types of wellness programs libraries are implementing, and ways to promote wellness initiatives in your library.
 

Learning Objectives:

  • Define wellness
  • Discuss the library's role in community wellness
  • Explore library wellness programs and initiatives
  • Identify promotion tactics for community wellness

Target Audience:
This course is intended for public libraries.

Prerequisites:
None

Homework Expectations and Completion Requirements:

  • Students will participate in class discussion and complete individual assignments.
  • It is designed for individual participation; each individual must register.
