Research and Instruction Librarians/Assistant Professor (tenure-track), 12-month position.

Sam Houston State University is looking for an innovative, enthusiastic individual interested in providing general and specialized reference services for the university community, and participating in user-centered, subject-specific library instruction in both fact-to-face and online settings.

SHSU’s campus of 20,000 students is located 50 minutes north of Houston in Huntsville, Texas. Duties include teaching library instructions classes for both undergraduate and graduate students, providing reference assistance, including one evening per week and some rotating weekend hours, and participating in collection development.

A degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited master’s program is required; some undergraduate or graduate coursework in the natural sciences, i.e. biology, chemistry, physics, agriculture, animal science, or geology, is desired. Salary dependent on qualifications; minimum salary is $47,000 for this entry-level position.
