We want you! Calling for proposals for February online conference on Library Spaces

The physical spaces of libraries have evolved tremendously in recent years. While some libraries exist in small spaces (existing in one small room), others have the space to have children’s, senior, teen, and even new adult spaces. The interpretations of how a library responds to patrons’ needs within their physical spaces varies to a nearly infinite degree.

Has your library recently remodeled or reimagined its library space? Does your library respond to your populations by creating specific spaces for varying purposes (such as a community room or quiet space)? Has your library had success in creating age-specific spaces such as teen spaces, children’s spaces, or senior spaces? Does your library create unique virtual spaces for patrons to access remotely?

Share your ideas about how your library’s physical space shapes the purpose and function of the library as a whole, by presenting at the Amigos online conference, "Library Space for All Ages," on February 16, 2017.

Amigos is now accepting presentation proposals for this conference! Click here to submit your proposal by November 28, 2016.

Suggested topic areas include:

  • Unique application of age-related spaces; such as teen spaces, children’s spaces, or senior spaces
  • Imaginative responses to small library spaces
  • Implementation of a recent remodel of the library space
  • Development of online spaces for patrons to access services remotely
  • Application of program-specific spaces, such as community spaces or quiet spaces
  • Creative outreach to attract patrons to the physical space
  • Assessing and measuring the success of library spaces for varying age groups

If you can speak on one of these topics or have another idea in mind, click here to submit your proposal by December 2, 2016. Don't worry if you've never presented online; it’s easy, and we are happy to train you and provide technical support during your presentation.
