Elections Highlight May Board of Directors Meeting

Elections of new officers for 2015-16 highlighted the May 12-13 meeting of the Amigos Library Services Board of Directors in Dallas. See "Amigos Board Announces Election Results, Selects Officers for 2015-16."

In other business, the Board authorized funding for two Amigos Fellowship and Opportunity Award applications based on the recommendation of the Award Selection Committee. Chief Communications and Member Development Officer Tracy Byerly reported that seven applications had been received and considered for funding.

In her final Chair's Report, outgoing Board Chair Carla Stoffle, Tucson, AZ, reviewed the proposed board calendar for FY2016, reviewed committee and task force appointments for the year, and thanked various Directors and members for their service.

The Treasurer's Report was presented by Amigos Treasurer Craig Stephenson, Ponca City, OK, and Amigos Chief Financial Officer Charles Cason. While reporting a year-to-date net loss for the organization's operational performance, they noted that Amigos’ net assets for the year remained strong.

In her report, Amigos President and Chief Executive Officer Bonnie Juergens provided the Board with various updates on the operations of the organization, commenting on the online conferences produced by Amigos during the previous year and reporting on the status of registrations for the May 13-14 annual member conference. Her report also covered recent activities in the courier program, a recent strategic plan member survey, and updates on the Amigos eShelf℠ Service e-book platform currently in development.

The next Amigos Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for August, preceded by an orientation session for newly elected Amigos Directors.
