Amigos Member Receives Research Grant

-from an OCLC press release

OCLC Research and the Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) have awarded a research grant to Denise Agosto of Drexel University and June Abbas of the University of Oklahoma, an Amigos member. The award was presented January 23 at the ALISE 2014 Annual Conference Awards Reception in Philadelphia in conjunction with the American Library Association’s Midwinter Meetings.

Agosto and Abbas will conduct user-centered research to develop a rich understanding of teens’ conceptions of online privacy and security attitudes, beliefs, and practices in the project, “A New Role for Libraries: Promoting Teens’ Safety and Security in the Digital Age.” The results of this study will be used to develop guidelines that public and school librarians can use to teach teens to become better-educated and safer users of social media.
