Trans-Amigos Express (TAE)
Trans-Amigos Express (TAE) is the Amigos-wide courier service offering low-cost, rapid pickup and delivery of ILL items among participating libraries. TAE participation benefits libraries in several ways.
Most deliveries take place within 48-72 hours, even when items are sent across state lines. TAE packages are sent in distinctive purple nylon bags provided at no extra cost to participating libraries, making packaging efficient and economical.
In addition to saving money on packaging items, our flat-rate annual fee means you will never have to pay more regardless of the amount of packages you send or the cumulative weight of those items. Libraries save thousands of dollars on shipping fees and packaging by using TAE – last year the average package shipped for 85 cents. Contact Bea Ramirez, 800-843-8482, ext. 2830, or email@example.com for current pricing information.
TAE libraries prioritize lending and borrowing from other participants. Become part of a community of over 250 libraries that are excited to share resources with you. Browse our participant list to see which of your borrowing partners are already participating.
TAE connects to the Mid-America Library Alliance (MALA), MOBIUS, and Kansas Library Express (KLE), providing access to over 600 additional libraries in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and Illinois for no additional fee. No matter what level of service you choose, you will be able to borrow from this extended circle of participating libraries.
TAE offers three levels of service: five days, three days, or two days per week. Choose the level of service that fits your needs and we will ensure you receive deliveries at a time convenient for your library.
